Exciting General Technical Meetings Kick Off EUSA Combat 2023

ZAGREB, July 20, 2023 - Representatives from judo, taekwondo, karate, kickboxing, organizers, and EUSA gathered for the General Technical Meetings (GTM) at EUSA Combat 2023. The purpose of the meetings which were held on July 20 in the Faculty of Kinesiology was to provide all participants and their teams with the necessary rules and clarifications. Additionally, the official draws for the competitions were conducted, and athletes underwent weigh-ins and training sessions ahead of the tournament's commencement tomorrow.

JUDO

During the Judo presentation, sports representatives welcomed all competitors and their teams. They extended gratitude to the university representatives for their presence and wished them a warm welcome, emphasizing fair play. The participants were reminded of the dress code, allowing them to wear T-shirts and long pants. It was also announced that weigh-ins would take place daily at 9 AM. They stressed the importance of maintaining clean facilities and emphasized that littering is not permitted. As for the medals, one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals will be awarded in each category. Organizers introduced the referees, the rules, and requested all participants to display sportsmanship and fair play throughout the tournament. It was highlighted that the highest number of registrations were in the women's 63kg category (27 athletes) and the men's 90kg category (39 athletes). A total of 323 competitors from 138 universities representing 20 countries have registered for judo. The complete draw can be found on sportdata.org and results.eusa.eu. TAEKWONDO

Presenters of taekwondo plan for EUSA Combat 2023 competition introduced the technical committee and referees and announced that weigh-ins would be held daily from 8 to 9 AM. The competition will follow the latest rules from 2019, utilizing the most advanced scoring techniques (PSS System). Lunch breaks are scheduled from 1 to 3 PM daily. There will be individual and team awards. Individual participants will receive gold, silver, and bronze medals, as well as a participation award. Universities will be recognized in the Poomsae and Kyorugi team categories. All awards will be presented at the end of each competitive day, and the results will be regularly posted on results.eusa.eu. Referee representative explained all the rules in detail to ensure clarity. She emphasized that weights from 58 kg to 58.09 kg are acceptable, but 58.1 kg represents a violation. Matches will consist of three rounds, each lasting 2 minutes, with a 1-minute break. There will be a winner in each round. Before the competition begins, a brief meeting for all teams and participants will be held on Saturday. KARATE

Karate championship presenters welcomed all participants and explained that the competition will span trough three days, with the first day featuring individual categories, the second for team competitions, and the third dedicated to finals. Medal distribution, which includes one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, will take place after the final matches on the last day. KICKBOXING

During the kickboxing presentation, the organizers extended a warm welcome to all and reminded them that they are not here solely for medals but also to forge new friendships and bonds. The participants were met with the rules and the appearance of the competition. It was stated that WAKO rules would be followed, and the best equipment would be provided to all competitors. Each category will consist of three rounds, each lasting 2 minutes, with a 1-minute break. Weigh-ins will start an hour before the official matches, and athletes must be present in the hall at least 30 minutes before the start of their categories.
