Judo Excellence on Display: EUSA Combat 2023 Medal Highlights DAY 2

ZAGREB, July 22, 2023 - The exciting Judo competitions at EUSA Combat 2023 have entered their second day, showcasing exceptional performances from talented athletes representing top European universities. In today's events, male judokas contested in weight categories ranging from -70 kg to +100 kg, while their female counterparts competed in -70 kg, -78 kg, and +78 kg divisions. The medal ceremony witnessed moments of elation and triumph as the best judokas claimed their well-deserved honors.

MEN'S JUDO

In the male categories, the athletes demonstrated their remarkable skills and determination, vying for the prestigious gold, silver, and bronze medals.

Gold Medalists: Gerosa Loic (-81 kg), Akaki Japaridze (-90 kg), Soso Ebilashvili (up to 100 kg), Richard Sipoch (over 100 kg).

Silver Medalists: Benedek Toth (-81 kg), Radomir Musil (-90 kg), Imeda Gogoladze (+100 kg), Shalva Gureshidze (+100 kg)

 

Bronze Medalists: (-81 kg) Szilard Radvanszki and Konrad Szatkowski, (-90 kg) Lucas Duchaussoy and Oleksii Boldyriev, (-100 kg) Ivan Rozga and Balint Havasi, (+100 kg) Aleksiei Moisieiev and Stef Van Kampen

Gerosa Loic claimed gold in the -81 kg category: "I feel great; I didn't expect such a quick victory. We've been preparing for this for years, and the hard work finally paid off. I hope to win more medals in the future."

WOMEN'S JUDO

In the women's categories, athletes competed with great determination and skill in weight divisions of -70 kg, -78 kg, and +78 kg.

Gold Medalists:  Aleksandra Samardžić (-70 kg),  Betty Vuk (-78 kg), Dounija Nacer (+78 kg) .

Silver Medalists: Mareike Reddig (-70 kg), Milica Cvijić (-78 kg), Georgiana Miler (+78 kg).

Bronze Medalists:  Olga Severin and Olga Tsimko (-70 kg), Beatriz Filipa Querida Moreira and Christina Heck (-78 kg), Pulien Sweers and Khrystyna Homan (+78 kg).

Aleksandra Samardžić claimed gold in the -70 kg category.

"I feel great; the competition was excellent. I had four tough matches, but in the end, I emerged victorious. We are constantly in preparations, getting ready for all the upcoming tournaments, and this victory is one of the highlights of my career."

The tournament continues to its end in Sunday, June 23 with the judo finals in the heavyweight categories, the medal award ceremony, and the closing event.
