The event will officially kick off with a grand opening ceremony, which will bring together over a thousand athletes and participants at the "Dom odbojke" sports hall in Zagreb, along with numerous dignitaries from the domestic and international combat sports and social spheres.

"Croatia and Zagreb are once again hosting the European Universities Championships in combat sports, and compared to the first edition of this event which was held four years ago, there is even more athletes here with us today. Our previous experience greatly aids us in organizing such a complex event and we hope everything will be running as smooth as possible" said Davor Pavlović, President of Zagreb University Sports Federation, on behalf of the organizing committee.
